Philly Soccer Show: Playoffs Slipping Away For Union As US Open Cup Nears
By Greg Orlandini
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Philadelphia Union are entering the home stretch of the MLS season and who better to talk with than play-by-play man JP Dellacamera?
He's the guest this week on the KYW Philly Soccer Show. KYW's Greg Orlandini talks with Dellacamera, who has been with the team since the beginning in 2010.
JP talks about the team as a postseason berth seems to be slipping away. But they still have the US Open Cup final at PPL Park on September 30th against Sporting Kansas City. It is the Union's second straight appearance in the Cup final.
JP also recalls calling the Women's World Cup this summer, including the historic final that saw South Jersey-native Carli Lloyd power the US to a win over Japan with her first half hat trick.
Then CBS 3's Kevin Kinkead joins Greg on the show. They discuss the spitting incident in the Union's loss to the New England Revolution last week which saw midfielder Chaco Maidana get a straight red card for spitting near Revs player Lee Nguyen. The Union could be without one of their best players for up to three games.
