CHESTER, Pa. (CBS) –- Leo Fernandes is in his rookie season with Philadelphia Union, and while he struggled early for playing time, he is starting to become regular fixture on the team.
The Brazilian-born, Long Island-raised midfielder has seen much more of the field lately with injuries to Danny Cruz and Michael Farfan, and Jack McInerany and Keon Daniel away on international duty.
Today, visiting the studios of the Philly Soccer Show, he talks about the chances he gets and what is expected of him. He also talks about playing and training with fellow Brazilian Kleberson, a player he looked up to as a kid.

Then, Kelly Delaney of the Sons of Ben comes into the Philly Soccer Show studio. She is the travel coordinator for the supporters' group, and discusses some of the charitable and volunteer work they do.
Greg and Eli then take a look at the Union's tough loss at Houston. Depleted by injuries and national team call-ups, the team started what could be termed an "experimental" lineup, with the two big forwards -- Conor Casey and Aaron Wheeler -- up top.
The Union fell, 1-0 (see game story).
Next up is Chivas USA, on Friday, and the return to PPL Park of former Union midfielder/defender Gabriel Farfan, who was traded to the LA team earlier this year.
