Philly Soccer Show: Alexi Lalas on US National Hopes
By Greg Orlandini
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --The US National Team takes center stage this week on the KYW Philly Soccer Show. KYW's Greg Orlandini and Philly Soccer Page writer Eli Pearlman-Storch are joined by ESPN soccer analyst and American soccer legend Alexi Lalas.
In part one, the candid-as-ever Lalas gives his take on the National team as they continue their qualifying campaign for World Cup 2014.
The team traveled to Jamaica, dropping a tough game, 2-1, before beating the Reggae Boyz in Columbus, 1-0.
Lalas talks about the evolving US roster and wonders who will step up to be the attacking midfielder for the team, as well as who the top goal scorer will be.
And finally, Lalas address some of the comments he made about Freddy Adu, and the exchange he and the Union player had over Twitter.

Toronto have been eliminated from playoff contention and their coach, Paul Mariner, went public with his displeasure about the state of his team.
We also talk about Union captain Carlos Valdes. The defender played a full 90 minutes for Colombia as they beat Uruguay, 4-0, in World Cup qualifying.
And finally, the future of the US Women's team is discussed. Pia Sundhage, who coached the ladies to two Olympic gold medals and one World Cup final, will not be returning. Greg and Eli look at who could fill her shoes.
