Philly Soccer Show: US Women Advance in World Cup Play
By Greg Orlandini
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (CBS) -- The US women are through to the knockout round in the Women's World Cup, and the KYW Philly Soccer Show breaks it down for you!
Joining KYW's Greg Orlandini and Philly Soccer Page writer Eli Pearlman-Storch today is Jami Dansingburg, a Philly Soccer Page contributor and a women's game expert. Jami holds an advanced diploma from the NSCAA and is co-founder of Global Soccer Metrix.
Despite making out of the group stage, the US women haven't exactly impressed so far in the tournament. We talk about the tactics the team has employed, and the how the women will do going forward in the World Cup. They are set to play Colombia on Monday.
Then, Greg and Eli discuss the Philadelphia Union as they advance to the fifth round of the US Open Cup, after beating the Rochester Rhinos, 3-1, in penalty kicks. (The game ended 0-0 after extra time).
The Union looks to make another strong run in this competition after losing in the final to Seattle last year, 3-1, at PPL Park.
