Philly PD's New Tactical Training Facility Gets A Grand Opening

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Police Department's new Regional Tactical Training Facility is now officially open, although not yet fully operational.
Today, police brass and top city officials marked the opening with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting at the police academy, in Northeast Philadelphia.
With gunfire from the firing range nearby echoing across the academy grounds, city officials did their ribbon cutting duties with... well, we'll say precision.
Although law enforcement groups are just beginning to move in, the state-of-the-art facility is now officially open for the serious business of training for the dangerous assignments of SWAT, K-9, and the bomb squad.
K-9 is already inside; the bomb squad and SWAT will move in soon.
"The Philadelphia police, the men and women that protect us and try to keep us safe every day, deserve the very best in training, the very best in technology," said Philadelphia district attorney Seth Williams today.
This facility will also be used to train law enforcement from surrounding areas.
