Philly Live Arts & Fringe Festival Gets New Name, New Building
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – After 17 years, the Philadelphia Live Arts Festival and Philly Fringe is getting a makeover.
The 16-day-long festival will now be known simply as "FringeArts."
The new moniker was announced at a Monday morning groundbreaking ceremony at the festival's new headquarters, located in a former historic pumping station that dates back to 1903 at Race Street and Columbus Boulevard.
And not only is the former Live Arts & Philly Fringe changing its name, it also plans to bring year-round programming and performances to the city -- in addition to the annual festival.
The organization says it plans to open the building to the public in time for this year's FringeArts festival, running Sept. 6-21.
