Phillies Sign Reid Brignac To Minor-Leauge Contract
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Phillies have signed infielder Reid Brignac to a minor league contract, with an invite to major league Spring Training, the team announced Tuesday.
Brignac, 28 years old, was a former highly touted prospect with the Tampa Bay Rays, but had little major league success. In 92 at-bats with the Yankees and Rockies in 2013, he hit .185 with an OPS of .480, with one home run and six RBIs. Brignac has appeared in six major league seasons, with a batting average of .221 and an OPS of .573.
Brignac can play shortstop, second base and third base.
