Phillies Recall Zagurski From Iron Pigs
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Phillies recalled left-hander Mike Zagurski from triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday. Zagurski takes the roster spot of right-hander Vance Worley, who was optioned to Lehigh Valley following Monday's game in Washington, D.C.
This is Zagurski's second stint with the Phillies this season. He had appeared in two games in April, allowing one earned run in 1 1/3 innings.
With Lehigh Valley, the 28-year-old was 1-0 with nine saves and a 1.88 ERA in 14 games. He had 23 strikeouts in 14 1/3 innings and was holding opponents to a .196 batting average.
Worley went 2-1 with a 3.75 ERA in six games, including four starts for the Phillies this year and 2-2 with a 3.51 ERA in five starts for the Iron Pigs.
Worley was sent to Lehigh Valley after he was tagged for eight runs on 12 hits in just three innings against the Mets on Sunday.
Pitching coach Rich Dubee said Kyle Kendrick would take Worley's place in the rotation for Saturday's game in Pittsburgh.
