Phillies Phans Upbeat For Home Opener, Express Concern After Loss

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- When the 2012 Phillies walked into Citizens Bank Park Monday afternoon, fans couldn't wait to play ball!
"This is great, there's nothing like it," said Dino Mallard of Allentown.
4-year-old Cole Dooling of Willow Grove took over as mascot. The smell of game day food filled the air. Thousands of people dressed in Phillies red, filled the seats.
From bands playing to dancers entertaining, there was a lot of excitement on opening day.
"We live overseas," said Allison Stack of Scottland. She brought her two children, ages five and seven, to the game.
By innings five, six and seven, it became clear, the day may not end on a good note.
But these aren't fair weather fans, their Phillies fans who stand by their team no matter which way the wind blows.
"Opening day is supposed to be the promise of a new season, but there is always tomorrow," said Mick Moninghoff.
The Phils are 1-3 after their loss in the home opener. Fans are looking at the Phils' inability to score runs, and they're concerned, "A little bit, yes. I wish they could get their offense going."
Beth Reeser of Mechanicsburg says the defense could be steadier, too, "A little bit of miscommunication and I think consistency in where the players are at I think is adding to that problem as well, where they're playing day to day."
But is it time to press the panic button? Beth says, no way.
"No. We've still got 150-some-odd games left. We're going to be good."
