Phillies Open Series With White Sox At CBP
By Matt Leon
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The Phillies will look to ride their recent wave of strong play into the MLB All-Star break as they open a weekend series with the Chicago White Sox at Citizens Bank Park.
The Phillies have gone 7-3 in winning their last three series against some pretty good teams in the Pirates, Braves and Nationals. This has pulled them to within a game of .500 at 46-47, but they are still 7 1/2 games back in the National League East race and 5 1/2 games off the pace in the wildcard chase.
Jonathan Pettibone will get the start for the Phillies in the series opener. The rookie right-hander is 5-3 on the season with a 3.84 ERA and he has won his last two starts. His mound opponent will be left-hander John Danks who is 2-6 this season.
This will be the first time the Phillies and the White Sox have met since the 2007 season when the Phils swept a three-game series from Chicago at Citizens Bank Park.
Chase Utley is getting a night off, Kevin Frandsen takes his place at second base against the left-hander Danks. Here is the full Phillies line-up:
1. Ben Revere CF
2. Jimmy Rollins SS
3. Michael Young 3B
4. Domonic Brown LF
5. Delmon Young RF
6. Kevin Frandsen 2B
7. Darin Ruf 1B
