Phillies Look To Double Lee's Win Total; Host Brewers Again
By Matt Leon
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – After a stirring four-run, 9th-inning comeback which gave the Phillies a 7-6 win over the Brewers last night, Cliff Lee takes the mound tonight as the Fightins' go for a third straight victory.
Lee is just 1-6 this season with a 3.72 ERA. In two starts since the All-Star Break, the left-hander has picked up right where he left off after the season's first three months - pitching pretty well with nothing to show for it to the tune of an 0-1 record and just three earned runs allowed in 14 innings of work (1.93 ERA).
The Brewers give the ball to right-hander Zack Grienke who is 9-3 here in 2012 and 1-1 against the Phillies in two career appearances.
It has been a struggle for Grienke here in July as he has allowed 14 earned runs in his 14 innings of work, going 0-1 in the process. Grienke also is not nearly as good on the road (5-3, 4.41) as he is at home (4-0, 2.56).
The Phillies bring a 43-54 record into tonight's game, that has them in last place in National League East. They are 14 games behind the first-place Nationals and 10 games out of a wildcard. The Brewers are 44-51 and in fourth-place in National League Central.
