Phillies Look For Series Win In Texas Behind Kendrick

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- After splitting the first two game of their season-opening series down in Texas, the Phils will try to get out of the Lone Star State with a winning record as they battle the Rangers again on Wednesday night.
The Phillies won a slugfest on Opening Day, 14-10, but on Tuesday night they lost 3-2. The Rangers won that game in the bottom of the ninth, a walk-off RBI single by Adrian Beltre doing the trick.
Kyle Kendrick will make his first start of the regular season in this one. He had a 2.81 ERA in spring training and is coming off a 10-13 season in 2013, during which he put together a 4.70 ERA. This will be his first ever appearance against Texas.
The Rangers will counter with left-hander Robbie Ross who will be making his first Major League start. He pitched in 65 games last season for Texas out of the bullpen.
After this game the Phillies will enjoy an off day on Thursday, then they open a three game series in Wrigley Field against the Cubs on Friday afternoon.
