Phillies: J.C. Romero Enjoying a Quiet Spring
CLEARWATER, Fla. (CBS) - JC Romero will be an important part of the Phillies' bullpen this season, and he is glad to start the spring with absolutely no problems.
"Yeah, I don't remember the last time I showed up to spring training being healthy or not having any type of suspension, issues, anything like that," he told KYW Newsradio today. "I feel blessed being back to normal -- and most importantly, being healthy."
And Romero says he is more ready than ever to play:
"I feel good. I feel like all the work I put into the offseason is paying off right now. Plus, I'm picking a little bit here and there from the brains of some of those starters that pound the strike zone so much. It seems like, throughout my batting practice sessions, it's paying a dividend."
Romero served a long suspension last year for using an illegal, over-the-counter supplement. He went 1-0 in 60 games for the Phillies in 2010, with a 3.68 ERA.
