Phillies Hold Tryouts For Next Season's Ballgirls

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Phillies' general manager Ruben Amaro is returning from the general managers' meetings in California.
But today, team officials were already evaluating talent at Citizens Bank Park -- for next year's squad of ballgirls.
About three dozen ballgirl prospects took their hacks this morning in the batting cages and answered questions in front of a panel of judges.
Michele DeVicaris, the Phillies' manager of community and charity events, says the team wants more than someone who can pick up foul balls during a game.
"They're athletic, they're educated, they're energetic, they're outgoing. They'll interact with the fans. They have a knowledge of sports. They have community work that they do. So, pretty much just the all-around person is what we're looking for," DeVicaris tells KYW Newsradio.
Among the candidates were 21-year-old twins Kory and Kelly Nesci, of Wilmington, Del.
Kory (at left below) says it would be fun to work the left field line while Kelly works right field.

"We made our video together, and I told her, 'If I get this and you don't, I'm going to be really upset.' Just because we worked so hard on this, and basically we've done everything together since we were little," she says.
And Kelly says it's a chance to show off twins striving for the same goal:
"You don't really see twins that often trying to do the same thing. And I think it would be great for the Phillies' organization, seeing that sisters like to do the same things together and we just so happen to be twins as well."
The Phillies will select 10 to 12 new ballgirls by the middle of December.
