Phillies Fans Say Goodbye To Another Extended Season
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia Phillies fans say they are having a tough time shaking off last night's loss against the San Francisco Giants.
"It's tough," said Phillies fan Paul Hondros. "We came up short, but we love them, we still support them."
"The Phillies still have a lot to be proud of," said Randy King.
"They're still number one," said one fan, as he left Citizen's Bank Park. "They're going to come back and win next year."
The San Francisco Giants won 3-2 in game 6 of the National League Championship Series.
It's a game one young boy says he'll never forget because it was the first baseball game he attended. In his opinion he thought the Phillies could have done better. It's a sentiment shared by thousands of fans, who watched the heartbreaking loss Saturday night.
While the clapping, cheering and singing have been silenced for now, fans said they're hopeful their team will be World Series ready, next year.
Mayor Michael Nutter said the Phillies are great and will continue to be a great team and he looks forward to the upcoming action that other Philadelphia teams will bring to the field courts and ice rink, "Naturally the Eagles will be playing, the Flyers season has started and soon the Sixers will be up and running and of course the Philadelphia Union. Philly is a great, great sports town and we live and die with our sports teams."
