Phillies Sign Bush To Minor-League Deal
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Phillies have agreed to a minor-league contract with right-handed pitcher Dave Bush.
The deal could potentially add another experienced arm to an already loaded Phillies pitching arsenal for the stretch run.
Bush will report to Triple-A Lehigh Valley.
After 17 appearances with the Texas Rangers this season, and then a handful of starts for the Chicago Cubs' Triple-A affiliate in Iowa, Bush opted out of his contract on Thursday to become a free agent.
Bush's arm joins the bat of Jack Cust who signed a minor-league deal with the Phillies on Friday following his release from the Seattle Mariners in early August.
Bush has a career 4.70 ERA in parts on eight major-league seasons.
Phillies fans may best remember him for his performance in the 2008 playoffs where he lead the Brewers to their only win of the NLDS in game three in Milwaukee.
Bush is a graduate of Conestoga High School in Berwyn, Pennsylvania.
