Phillies Blanked by Marlins, Offensive Woes Deepen.
The feel good story of Roy Halladay's perfect game Saturday night was just a breif interruption in what has become a deep offensive funk for the Phillies, who have now scored eight runs over their last nine games after being shut out 1-0 by the Florida Marlins today at Sun Life Stadium. The Phillies took the series two games to one, but scored just four runs in the process after today's white washing. It was the fifth time in the last eight games the Phillies failed to score a single run. The Phils wasted a strong outing from Jamie Moyer (5-5), who allowed one run on four hits over six innings of work, but absorbed the loss. Meanwhile, the Phils had no answer for Anabal Sanchez (5-2), who won his fourth straight decision. Sanchez allowed just three hits in 6-2/3 shutout innings. Jayson Werth struck out four times, including a whiff in the eighth inning with runners on first and third. The Phillies (28-21) head to Atlanta to begin a three game series Monday afternoon.
