Phillies Beer Man Delivers For Twitter Followers
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - There's a new high-tech twist to buying beer at Citizens Bank Park.
Longtime beer vendor Bill Watkins is using social media to help boost business, "Fans can find me on Twitter @PhilsBeerMan."
He got the idea just before the season began, "I started a Twitter account for my day job and I read about a Seattle beer guy who was going to do it, and I thought that sounds like a good idea. I'll give it a whirl and see how it goes."
So far it's gone very well.
"About 440 followers as of today," he boasts. "Just send a Tweet from your seat, and I'll come running."
Watkins' idea comes on the heels of the "At Bat" smartphone ap that Aramark rolled out last year.
"Basically it allows fans to order their food without missing a pitch. Order select items from throughout the ballpark and then an Aramark runner will deliver your food in less than 20 minutes," Spokesman Dan Smith said.
