Phillies Battle Marlins Again, Looking For 4th Straight Win
By Matt Leon
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Phillies will look to stay hot tonight down in Miami as they continue their series with the Marlins, looking for a fourth straight win.
This winning streak comes after the Phillies were shutout in back-to-back games last Wednesday and Friday. Since then, the Phillies have scored 26 runs in their three wins, six of them coming last night in their 6-5 win. The victory improved the Phillies to 4-0 against Miami.
The news is not all good for the Phillies, however. Left-hander Cliff Lee has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with an elbow strain. Lee is 4-4 this season. His roster spot has been filled by 1B/OF Darin Ruf who was recalled from AAA Lehigh Valley.
Kyle Kendrick will get the start tonight for the Phillies. The veteran right-hander is 0-4 this season, but he has pitched better than that record would indicate. He has a 3.96 ERA in eight starts. This would seem to be a great spot for Kendrick as in his career he is 12-2 against the Marlins.
Miami will start right-hander Nathan Eovaldi. He is 2-2 this season with a 3.62 ERA. In his career against the Phillies he is 1-4.
The Phillies are now 20-22 on the season, that's good for fourth in the National League East. The Marlins are 23-23, a game ahead of the Phillies in third.
The Phillies line-up tonight:
1. Jimmy Rollins SS
2. Carlos Ruiz C
3. Chase Utley 2B
4. Ryan Howard 1B
5. Marlon Byrd RF
6. Cody Asche 3B
7. Domonic Brown LF
8. Tony Gwynn Jr. CF
9. Kyle Kendrick P
