Phillies Announce Plans For Taney Dragons Celebration
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Phillies announced they will honor the Taney Dragons on Wednesday night for their Mid Atlantic Title and their run during the Little League World Series. The team has released the details of their part of the celebration.
Mayor Michael Nutter announced that the team will be honored with a parade. Following those festivities, the team will get the chance to be shown appreciation by the Phillies as well as the fans in attendance at the game.
Prior to the game, fans are encouraged to lineup along 10th street as the Dragons will take part in a "Leadoff Walk," into Citizens Bank Park along with their families. They will be escorted by the Penn Band and the Phillie Phanatic.
The team will then enter the ballpark and be introduced to the fans in the stands at the game. Nutter, as well as Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard, will address the members of the team and the players will take one final victory lap around the park.
All 12 players on the Dragons will throw out the first pitch at the same time. The tosses will be caught by current members of the Phillies.
All fans in attendance will receive a Taney Dragons tee shirt.
