Phillies 3B Polanco Has Successful Elbow Surgery

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Phillies third baseman Placido Polanco has had successful surgery on his injured left elbow.

General Manager Ruben Amaro Jr. says Polanco is expected to be ready for spring training after a doctor removed spurs from the elbow and repaired a tendon on Friday.

Polanco's recovery is expected to take until early January. He hit .298 with six homers and 52 RBIs for the NL East champions.
