Philadelphia's Christmas Tree Recycling Program Starts Monday

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Not sure what to do with that Christmas tree now that the holiday's past? The City of Philadelphia has an answer.

The city's annual Christmas tree recycling program will begin on Monday January 3rd, and run for 11-days; offering residents an environmentally safe option for disposing of their trees.

David Biddle is the recycling coordinator for the Philadelphia Streets Department.

"We hope that everybody tries to do their part and keep these Christmas trees out of landfills. It's a normal thing to do here in the 21st Century."

The trees can be dropped off at the Streets Department's Sanitation Convenience Centers located across the city; however they will not be collected curbside.

The drop off locations and hours of operation can be found online at phila.gov/streets.
