Philadelphia's African American Museum To Host Free Kwanzaa Celebrations
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – The African American Museum in Philadelphia is holding free Kwanzaa celebrations this week.
The African American Museum in Philadelphia will hold three Kwanzaa celebrations this week, for the first time, starting on the first day at the Museum at 7th and Arch, and then on Wednesday and Thursday at the Gallery at Market East.
Romona Riscoe Benson, president and CEO, says the celebrations will begin with the traditional Nguzo Saba Candle Lighting Ceremony and Dance.
"That ceremony and a ceremonial dance will take place first. We will have performances by artists, both dancing and drumming. We will have storytelling. We will have a wonderful arts and crafts session that will feature Kwanzaa bookbinding.'
