Philadelphia Zoo Determines Sex Of Jaguar Cub, Settles On Name
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Philadelphia Zoo has determined the sex of its new baby jaguar and it has a name.

The Philadelphia Zoo's new baby jaguar, born June 3rd to Kanga and Jutai, is a boy and his name is Lucha (pictured), which means fight in Spanish. And while he is scrappy, beginning to explore and playing, the public still won't see him for some time. Lucha just yesterday began exploring his future home in Big Cat Falls, but out of range of public view.
Curator of Carnivores Tammy Schmidt says the viewing area is now covered by huge colorful leaves, "We will slowly take off a leaf at a time and give peeks for the baby and Kanga to see who's walking around. We have bike racks up to keep people off the glass."
Lucha was the first jaguar born at Big Cat Falls. Two baby snow leopards were born three weeks later.
