Philadelphia Woman Battles Traffic Court For Citation Received 10 Years After Accident
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A Philadelphia woman plans to fight traffic court after she received a citation in the mail a decade after an accident took place.
Some say better late than never, but Donna Weiner from Northeast Philadelphia says 10 years is definitely too late.
"It took them less time to find Osama bin Laden than it took to give me this citation," she said.
Earlier this month, Donna received a citation in the mail from Philadelphia's traffic court concerning a minor accident on I-95 back in September 2001. That same year, she pleaded not guilty to it and promptly paid a $100 fine.

"I paid the ticket, forgot about it and went on with my life. Ten years later, I received a citation in the mail saying if I do not show up for court, there will be a bench warrant," said Donna, who is expected to appear in court on Wednesday.
"I'm a high school teacher in Philadelphia; I do the right thing. This makes me feel like a criminal, but I will have my day in court. I do not have due process 10 year later," she said.
Donna says she has never received any sort of notice from traffic court before this one. She has lived in the same house for years and says there is no reason why the court would not be able to locate her.
Eyewitness News tried getting in contact with traffic court, but no one was available to talk.
"I just want to have my day in court and I want my $100 back of course. That might get lost in the mail," said Donna.
