Cooler temperatures in Philadelphia area for another mostly dry week. Here's the full forecast.
This November, there have been 11 days with an average high of 70-plus degrees. That's a solid 10.2 degrees above normal, and we haven't gotten accustomed to what temperatures typically feel like in November.
Get ready. After a record-tying 74 degrees for Veterans Day, Tuesday's daytime high will only reach the low- to mid-50s. Expect a blustery day with temperatures dropping rapidly into the overnight hours.
We expect sustained winds around 20 mph, with gusts up to 30 mph. Later in the day, and especially in the higher elevations, we could see gusts of 35 mph.
You might have to grab your empty can from the neighbor's yard if it's your trash day. It's a great opportunity to say hello and "Go Birds," who have a short rest and a Thursday night game after walloping the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday (more on Thursday's game below).
Wednesday morning, much of the Philadelphia region will wake up to temperatures in the 20s, with the thermometer reading around 30 in the city.
Rainfall does not ease drought; increased fire risk today
Our dry streak finally ended Sunday night and Monday morning with much-needed rain all across the region. Most areas picked up between 0.25 and 0.5 inches of rain. While not enough to erase the drought, it's a good start.
It's still dry, and winds plus the low humidity are elevating the risk for wildfires to spread. Any fires that ignite could quickly become difficult to control. The National Weather Service and New Jersey Forest Fire Service say there is an increased risk of fire spread Tuesday.
Be extremely careful with burning outdoors — if that is allowed in your area. There are burn bans in many parts of our region until conditions improve.
We don't have much more rain in the extended forecast.
Will rain hold off for Eagles-Commanders game Thursday night?
Another system brings clouds and the chance for a shower Thursday, though it looks like the steadiest rain may miss us to the south.
It looks dry for the Eagles game on Thursday night, but it will be chilly. Layer up for some good fall football weather. You may want to pack a poncho to be on the safe side.
Temps will climb back into the 60s for the weekend, and the weather is, yet again, trending dry.
