Philadelphia Weather: Blustery Winds, Cold Temperatures On Tap For Last Day Of Winter
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The last day of winter will certainly live up to its name. After the passage of this morning's front, we are drier. Clouds will continue to clear from North to South East as the system pulls away from the region.
Temperatures this afternoon will be about seven degrees below seasonal norms and winds will keep wind chill values in the 30s during the majority of the afternoon.
Winds will gusts near 30-35 mph around Philly but could push to near 45-50 mph at the immediate shoreline through the afternoon. Winds do gradually diminish by this evening and skies should completely clear making for a chilly end to the winter season.
Saturday is the first day of Spring and while it might not be the warmest 1st day of Spring it will be more comfortable than this afternoon. Highs Saturday will rise into the middle 50s under sunny skies.
Sunday comes with another mostly sunny day and a high near 60.
We remain dry for the first couple of days of the new work week, and highs on Monday and Tuesday will hover in the low to mid-60s with mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies.
By Tuesday night a new cold front will approach from the west and allow clouds to increase into Tuesday night. Watch for spotty showers early Wednesday morning.
The latest model runs keep us stormy through the end of next week, with a parade of storms moving through the region; touching off a possible thunderstorm by Friday.
