PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau launched two social media campaigns for the month of November designed to promote Philadelphia here and abroad.
Across the pond, Londoners are encouraged to snap a photo of one of the 11 taxicabs wrapped with Philadelphia images and messaging and post it to Facebook or Twitter using the hashtag #PHLinLondon.
"Social media is a great way to spread a message, get user generated contact and turn a message into a movement," says Danielle Cohn, Vice President of Marketing & Communications for the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau.
The winner will receive a VIP trip from London to PHL including round-trip airfare for two, a three-night stay at the Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn's Landing, a shopping excursion, two tickets to see the Philadelphia Orchestra and more.
On the homefront the bureau launched the #PHLEffect contest.
"The contest was development to get people to showcase their pride in Philadelphia," Cohn says. "You can enter by just tweeting a picture of PHL in action to the handle @discoverPHL or you can share it on Facebook under discover Philadelphia."
A PHL pin isn't required to enter the contest and anyone using the three letters can submit an entry. The winners will be announced on Wednesday, November 27th.
