Philadelphia Teachers Being Recruited By A Virginia School District

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A Virginia school district is recruiting teachers from Philadelphia.
The Petersburg, Virginia school district, just south of Richmond, is running ads on Philly.com, enticing local teachers to apply for jobs there.
Petersburg schools spokeswoman Nicole Bell says they are not trying to capitalize on the uncertainty surrounding Philadelphia's school budget crisis.
"What's going on with teachers in Philadelphia didn't have much weight, in terms of us advertising in the Philadelphia area. What did have much weight is that we get good responses from the Philadelphia area," she explained.
Bell says her district is trying to fill about 20 teacher vacancies and wanted to cast as wide a net as possible to find the best candidates.
