Philadelphia Science Festival Readies For 11 Days of Fun and Learning
By Cherri Gregg
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Science Festival kicks off tonight, covering everything from astronomy to zombies.
"The goal is to really make science accessible and to say, hey, this stuff is fun and it's interactive," notes Gerri Trooskin, director of the Philadelphia Science Festival, which will host dozens of events all over the city.
And, she says, there's something for everyone.
"We're doing our Science Discovery Days," Trooskin tells KYW Newsradio. "We have one at Bartram's Gardens around urban farming. We have one at the Philadelphia Center for Arts and Technology, where we're doing forensics. We're having one at the Seaport (Independence Seaport Museum), where it's all about the water waves."

And this Saturday there will be a huge science carnival on Benjamin Franklin Parkway.
"We have 150 different booths," Trooskin says. "We have four stages, all of which will be offering nonstop entertainment."
The Philadelphia Science Festival runs through April 28th. For more information, go to http://www.philasciencefestival.org/.
