Philadelphia Welcomes Pope Francis With Four Unique Billboards

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- September has arrived. We are officially in the month of Pope Francis' visit to Philadelphia and the city is gearing up for the big day with some big signage to get people excited.

Four new billboards are set to appear in the area to welcome pilgrims and Pope Francis himself to the city.

The billboards are a staple of the With Love, Philadelphia XOXO campaign by Visit Philadelphia.

There will be two versions of the billboards that feature images of Pope Francis accompanied by slogans

The two slogans appearing on the boards are "My Phillyosophy: Great Cities attract great leaders," and "My Phillyosophy: Sometimes it's good to pontificate."

The billboards can be seen on I-676 eastbound near the 23rd Street Exit in Philadelphia, PA Turnpike eastbound near Exit 247 in Harrisburg, Rt. 30 westbound near the Ben Franklin Bridge in New Jersey and I-95 southbound near the Richmond Street Exit in Philadelphia.

The billboard on I-676 has been up since August 17 and will appear until September 6. The remaining boards will appear from September 7 until October 4.

"This is an uplifting time for Philadelphia, and we want to celebrate that in our campaign," Meryl Levitz, president and CEO of Visit Philadelphia, said. "People will be telling their children about Pope Francis' visit to Philadelphia for years to come; this is an historic event, and it deserves to be showcased."
