Philadelphia Police Seize 34 Illegal Dirt Bikes, ATVs
PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- Philadelphia police say they've seized 34 illegal dirt bikes and all-terrain vehicles in an undercover sweep.
The Major Crimes Unit rounded up the vehicles Sunday amid concerns they're a danger to public safety.
Police also arrested the drivers of two stolen dirt bikes and a driver they say had a gun.
Hundreds of dirt bike and ATVs paraded through the city last week after the shooting death of popular dirt biker Kyrell Tyler.
Some bikers rode up on sidewalks, cut off vehicles and raced through red lights.
Chief Inspector Dennis Wilson says the vehicles aren't allowed on city streets and won't be returned to their owners.
Wilson says more than 1,000 vehicles have been taken off the streets over the last two years.
