Philadelphia Police Officer Dragged Three Blocks During Traffic Stop
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A Philadelphia police officer is recovering from injuries he sustained when he was dragged several blocks during a traffic stop.
The incident began shortly before 7:30 p.m. Sunday along Westmoreland Street, near G Street in North Philadelphia.
Police say the officer was on patrol when he heard screaming coming from someone inside a nearby car. The officer began to investigate, and upon speaking with the two occupants inside the vehicle, the driver of the car allegedly hit the accelerator, dragging the officer three blocks before he manged to let go.
The officer was taken to Episcopal Hospital where he was treated for scrapes and cuts to his left hand and pain in his lower back.
The unidentified occupants of the vehicle were later apprehended and arrested. There was no immediate word on any charges.
