'There's Just So Much Killing Going On': 17-Year-Old Boy Found Shot To Death In Philadelphia Park
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police are trying to piece together what happened moments before a teenager was found shot to death in a city park. The 17-year-old boy's body was found early Thursday morning in Fernhill Park in the Nicetown neighborhood.
Police haven't identified the teenager, but they say he suffered from a single gunshot wound.
"I'm upset. There's just so much killing going on around everywhere," one neighbor said.
The neighbor says she's lived across the street from the park for three years.
"I'm not surprised at anything that's happening now," she said. "I'm not surprised."
The boy was found by a jogger in a tunnel that goes under the Roosevelt Expressway. Police say he was found at about 6:15 a.m.
"The jogger happened upon the unresponsive male at around 6:15 but that doesn't mean there was a shooting at 6:15," Philadelphia Police Capt. Sekou Kinebrew said.
Police say they do believe the shooting happened at the park.
"Of course we're not leaving any stone unturned and we are open to any alternatives of what may have happened but it looks like what transpired, transpired there," Kinebrew said.
