Police Investigate 2 Shootings At Same Location On Germantown Avenue
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia homicide detectives are investigating two separate shootings, hours apart, in nearly the same location in the Fairhill section of the city.
So far, there is no evidence that links the two shootings.
A 19-year-old man was shot and killed just before 9 p.m. Wednesday near Club Aces along Germantown Avenue near Indiana Avenue. He was shot while riding his bike and was pronounced dead on arrival at Temple University Hospital.
About three hours later, a 38-year-old man was shot in the chest. He was listed in critical condition. The second shooting took place within a few feet of the earlier incident, leading some to speculate, according to police Chief Inspector Scott Small.
"We're not sure at this time if the 38-year-old was laying stuffed animals or if he was with other individuals that had recently put a stuffed animal on the location where the 19-year-old homicide victim was shot," Small said.
Police have interviewed a number of witnesses, but none have been able to link the two crimes so far.
Bullet shell casings found near both incidents are being examined by crime scene lab technicians.
The investigation into both shootings is ongoing.
