Philadelphia Police Investigate Monday Morning Assault

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Philadelphia police department is investigating another sexual assault and attack in the city's Kensington section. Investigators are studying details and clues and may have more comment later in the day Monday.

Police are saying very little but they say the attack took place after midnight early Monday morning near Kensington Avenue and East Sergeant Street. The victim, who remains under evaluation, is being questioned.

It appears she was approached by a man weighing about 170 pounds and having a dark complexion. He threatened the victim with a pair of scissors and at some point during the attack, the victim was struck about the head with a brick.

Detectives would not say if the suspect attempted to strangle her and note it is too early to say if there is a connection to three recent assaults, the most recent having occurred Friday.

The suspect fled on foot and is said to have a mustache. He was wearing a black hoodie and black pants.
