Reward Offered For Suspect's Location In Murder Of Student Over Motorcycle
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Philadelphia police have identified a suspect wanted for the murder of a college student earlier this month and they are asking for the public's help to track him down. A $2,500 reward is being offered.
Jeffrey Little, 19, is wanted for his alleged role in the shooting death of Mohan Varughese in the 2200 block of N. Camac Street on May 9th (see previous story).
According to investigators, the suspect approached Varughese -- a Penn State senior just a few days shy of graduating with a degree in psychology -- and attempted to steal his new, red Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle that he had bought with tips from his job as a parking valet.
"He and his friends were on the front steps talking when this individual approached, demanded the keys to the motorcycle," says Philadelphia homicide captain James Clark, "and when he didn't get it, he started shooting."
Clark says Varughese suffered multiple gunshots to his head and chest and the suspect fled -- without the motorcycle.
Varughese was rushed to Temple University Hospital, but he was later pronounced dead. Police say Varughese was visiting his girlfriend, a Temple student, at her off-campus residence.
Investigators were asking for the public's help in locating Little. His last address is in the 2100 block of N. Marvine Street. He is considered armed and extremely dangerous.
The US Marshals Fugitive Task Force is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to Little's arrest. All tips should be called in the US Marshal 24-hour tipline at 1-866-865-TIPS (8477).
