Philadelphia Police Hunt For Car And Driver In Deadly Hit And Run
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A man was killed when he was hit by a car while crossing the Roosevelt Boulevard early Monday morning, and the car that hit him never stopped.
The victim, identified as 22-year-old Martin Xol, was crossing the boulevard at 5th Street just before 2 a.m. when he was hit by a car heading south in the outer lanes. Police say the car kept on going after striking the pedestrian.
Paramedics pronounced Xol dead at the scene.
Ben Simmoneau reports...
"At first I thought it was a child, because the person looked so small," said a neighbor who saw the victim in the street.
The striking car is described as a dark sedan, possible a Mercury Sable or Ford Taurus. It has damage to the hood and the passenger side. The windshield is broken and police say the car is missing a wiper.
Anyone with any information on that car or on the victim is asked to call police.
