Philadelphia Police Honor Fallen Officer One Year After His Death
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- One year ago today, Philadelphia Police Officer Robert Wilson III was shot and killed in the line of duty.
To honor his memory, officers at the 22nd Police District on North 17th Street will hold a vigil where they will release balloons into the air at 6 p.m. -- the hour in which Officer Wilson died.
Officer Wilson was inside the store at the time purchasing a gift for his 8-year-old son as a reward for good grades in school.
To honor the fallen officer, the Philadelphia Police Department changed its profile picture Saturday to a photo of Wilson.
The suspects, Ramone Williams and Carlton Hipps, have been charged with first-degree murder and are awaiting trial.
