Philadelphia Police Department Mints 29 New Officers

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The City of Philadelphia has 29 new police officers, following a graduation ceremony this morning in Northeast Philadelphia.
Police Academy class number 361 stood in formation in front of proud family, friends, and city officials in the auditorium of Abraham Lincoln High School.
Deputy police commissioner Richard Ross talked about the impact these new officers will have on people.
"Many of you will chase robbery suspects, you'll save people in burning buildings, you'll even do CPR. But sometimes it's the little things that will be so good to people," he said.
One of the graduates, 25-year-old officer Robert Korn, was following the footsteps of his father and his grandfather.
"This has been my goal since I was a kid," he tells KYW Newsradio, "and I've been striving to reach this goal and I finally got there! I couldn't be any happier."
Korn says he's looking forward to Monday, the first day on the job, when he'll begin serving the 15th police district.
