Philadelphia Police Arrest Two 17-Year-Olds In Connection With Teen Murder

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --   The mother of murder victim Saleem West joined Philadelphia homicide investigators at a press conference announcing the arrest of her 16 year old son's two accused killers.

"My life will never be the same, ever.  he was my only child, he was my life," she told reporters.

West was gunned down November 1 as he rode his bike at 22d and Sedgley Ave.  the suspects pulling up in a car, opening fire with a barrage of more than a dozen bullets.

The suspects, Raheim Feaster and Tyree Johnson, both 17, will be charged as adults, police say.

Investigators say the motive for the murder appears to be an ongoing feud between two groups of teenagers that, sources say, could ultimately involve four additional murders and several shootings.

"It's always over a bunch of nothing," First Deputy Police Commissioner Richard Ross told CBS 3's Walt Hunter.

"Even when they think they can connect the dots out in the streets, it's never worth taking a life."

Saying she was "relieved" to learn of the arrests, West's mother joined police, pleading to an end to the violence that took her only child's life.

"I want them to stop the violence, like give our kids a chance.  Give them a chance to be something."
