Philadelphia Platinum Songwriting Duo Nominated For Grammy Awards

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Philadelphia multi-platinum songwriting and record producing duo, Carvin & Ivan, have worked with major artists like Justin Timberlake, Musiq Soulchild, and Jill Scott. They're among the talent from Philadelphia nominated for Grammy Awards to be given out on Sunday.
Carvin Haggins and Ivan Barias have been fixtures on the Philadelphia music scene for almost 20 years. Barais says the duo met at the music studio A Touch of Jazz. "If you were to trace Philly's modern music history it's like all roads lead through DJ Jazzy Jeff, it was kind of like the school of hard knocks we got our BA's, MBA's and PHD's over there in making music."
In 2013 the production duo earned its 18th and 19th Grammy nomination, but have yet to win an actual award. "On the Best R&B category we have two entries Chrisette Michelle and TGT," Barias tells KYW Newsradio.
Despite never winning, they are still happy to have the multiple nominations. "It's definitely a great thing to know that your peers selected your music to be nominated, I mean it's an exciting moment," adds Haggins.
