Sunny and a bit warmer in Philadelphia today, Ernesto to create rough surf at Jersey Shore, Delaware beaches
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — It'll be a bit warmer in the Philadelphia area on Thursday and Friday as temperatures climb slightly into the upper 80s.
The humidity also ramps up as we head into the weekend, staying comfortable Thursday and Friday but reaching muggy levels by Saturday.
We could see a few more clouds around the region today, but the majority of Thursday will stay dry.
Friday evening could bring some spotty showers, but our next best chance of any measurable rain will be during the upcoming weekend as the overall pattern changes.
At this point, we are not on any weather alert, but you may want to have a backup plan in place if you have outdoor activities scheduled.
Where is Ernesto?
Hurricane Ernesto is headed north and eyes are now on Bermuda as the storm is expected to intensify into a major hurricane, Category 3 storm, possibly making a direct landfall on Bermuda Saturday. After dumping torrential downpours on Puerto Rico, at least two-thirds of homes and businesses in the U.S. territory are without power.
Local impacts will be increased wave heights, choppy surf and rip current threats, most notably on Sunday at the Jersey Shore and Delaware beaches.
