Philadelphia Orchestra Presents 'The Complete Firebird'
By RJ McKay
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Orchestra presents 'The Complete Firebird' on December 3, 4 and 5.
Jeremy Rothman, vice president of artistic planning, explains what to expect from this concert.
"The main feature on this program is that our music director, Yannick Nezet-Seguin is leading the complete ballet score to Igor Stravinsky's 'Firebird.' The work is very well known in its shorter suite version. This 45 minute work has some real gems of the ballet music that you don't normally hear in the shorter version."
Jeremy also discussed violin soloist Hilary Hahn.
"The soloist in this program is Hilary Hahn, who's beloved in Philadelphia, spent a lot of time at Curtis and is a graduate from there and is performing Vieuxtemps Violin Concerto Number 4. So she is always a great favorite to have on the stage with the Philadelphia Orchestra."
