Philadelphia Officials Say City Will Be Ready For Tuesday's Elections

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia elections officials insist they'll be ready to go for the presidential election come Tuesday, despite the two days lost to Hurricane Sandy.
The election watchdog group Committee of 70 has voiced a number of concerns about the city's readiness for Tuesday's election, including delays caused by the storm. The weather prompted the postponement to Friday of the regular Wednesday meeting of the City Commissioners, who run the elections.
But the chairwoman of the commissioners, Stephanie Singer, says not to worry.
"We will be ready for Tuesday. We have had to adjust, for example, our voting machine delivery. We have brought on extra trucks, extra capacity, so that we can deliver many more machines in the days that are left," she told KYW Newsradio today.
Singer also dismisses another concern of the watchdog group over voter registration applications (see related story). She says all applications filed before the deadline will be processed in time for Tuesday morning.
