Philadelphia Offers Free And Discounted Parking On Saturdays During Holiday Season
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Mayor Michael Nutter announced on Wednesday that parking in Philadelphia during the holidays will be a lot cheaper.
If you are looking for parking in Philadelphia on the weekends, then you are in for a pleasant surprise. Mayor Nutter says the Philadelphia Parking Authority is providing parking discounts every Saturday from Thanksgiving through the end of the year.
"Meter parking is free after 11 a.m. all across the city. And in the parking lots run by the Parking Authority [in Center City], it's one flat rate of $8 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m."
Nutter also says the Philadelphia Parking Authority is providing the incentive to make holiday shopping more festive in all of the commercial districts around Philadelphia.
"Whether that's in Center City, or many of our commercial corridors all across the city. You can find many, many shopping deals all across the city in our neighborhoods in Philadelphia."
