Philadelphia Non-Profits Get Helping Hand From Catchafire
By Dr. Marciene Mattleman
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Non-profit organizations work for children, education, environment, arts and health. They're socially good organizations, that deserve the same quality of talent as the for-profit sector.
Given that 75% of the 2 million nonprofits in the US operate under less than a $500,000 annual operating budget, many simply cannot afford professional services at market rates.
Catchafire, a national organization founded 4 years ago, has come to Philadelphia to do two things: bring great affordable talent to the nonprofit sector and provide volunteers with meaningful and impactful experiences.
Over the last few weeks, the team spent time in conversations with leaders of our community and selected 28 starting groups who requested help with projects such as marketing plans and press kits.
The goal is for Catchafire to fall into the background as simply the facilitator for these small organizations that are working for the common good and the passionate folks who support them to rise and connect.
