Philadelphia Manager Advocates Narrowing Educational Path To Create A Career Niche

There are a broad range of management positions in a wide variety of fields, and in business, a degree in management will greatly help your advancement in a corporate environment. But if your major in college is in a field such as science, a concentration in a specific area will gear your career towards a specialty. Daryl Tunno did just that with a degree from West Chester.

What is your educational background?

"I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from West Chester University. My concentration was in marketing and management."

What is your background in management?

"I have 25 years in sales, production and operations management for BELFOR, a global disaster recovery and property restoration company, in the Northeast Region."

How has your education fueled your management success?

"The basic fundamental concepts introduced in the academic arena have been practiced and refined over the years through 'real world' experiences. Being part of the Association of Collegiate Entrepreneurs (ACE) at West Chester along with combining the classroom concepts with the entrepreneurial club experiences drove me initially into the small business environment. Staying within the spirit learned through ACE has helped grow with our organization and industry to where they are today. I have continued my industry education through acquiring the designation of Certified Restorer (CR) through the Restoration Industry Association (RIA). This is the specific designation for preeminent management and training in disaster/damage repair."
