Philadelphia Man Found Guilty Of Several Armed Robberies
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The U.S. Attorney's Office has announced the conviction of a 24-year-old Philadelphia man in connection with armed and vicious robberies at five different locations in the fall of 2008.
The U.S. Attorney's Office says the robberies happened over a nine-day period in October 2008. Stores hit included Dunkin Donuts, Pizza Hut and McDonald's in Philadelphia, Upper Darby and Radnor.
Officials say 24-year-old Devon Brinkley and his co-defendants would enter the building with pistols drawn, threaten employees and customers and force them to the floor. The gunmen would then take cell phones and money from the victims, then rob the stores' cash registers and safes.
In one case, a woman employee said she was so traumatized she could not work the night shift. In another, a female employee was hit with a pistol.
Brinkley could face up to 107 years in prison when he is sentenced. All of his co-defendants have already pleaded guilty.
