Authorities: Philadelphia Man Charged With 89 Incidents Of Burglary
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Authorities say a Philadelphia man has been charged with 89 incidents of burglary following a lengthy police investigation.
Officials say Larry Rafiq Samuels was arrested for a series of alleged burglaries and attempted burglaries in Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Philadelphia Counties.
The incidents happened between August 31, 2014 and July 3, 2015.
Authorities say money, cell phones, Apple devices and purses were the most common things stolen from homeowners.
Officials say the victims suffered a financial loss of over $200,000.
A break came on July 19, 2015, authorities say, when Cheltenham Township officers responded to reports of three overnight burglaries and one attempted burglary.
Authorities say at two of the homes surveillance video was obtained of Samuels.
Officials say the burglaries followed a pattern. They occurred near SEPTA regional rail stops, money and small electronics were sought and items unwanted by the burglar were left in yards on the way to the next home.
Authorities say sometimes the burglar would even take food and drinks from the residence.
The defendant was arraigned on July 7, 2016 and his bail was set at $500,000.
Authorities say he failed to post bail and is currently being held in the Montgomery County Correctional Facility.
